2017 Lesson PLans
There are many ways in which I could teach these objectives to my students. My method of instruction is that the students get the maximum amount of hands-on experiences during the time they are with me. A large majority of class time will be spent at the sewing machine learning by doing with the instructor guiding and facilitating through out the year.
This course requires that the students have their supplies in class ON TIME and participate DAILY or their grade will reflect the lack of participation.
My goal is for my students to come out of this course with a basic overview of the foundations of fashion designl by learning what textiles are, how apparel is designed, how to construct apparel, and most importantly how can we utilize this knowledge of textiles and fashion today.

Note to Students & Parents
My primary goal in this course is for the students to be able to gain the general skills needed in order to design and sew clothing utilizing various tools. Therefore, there is a course fee to ensure that the students have the tools needed to assist them in their learning. It is also important that these tools are bought to ensure the students safety. With these funds I will buy supplies, which will include: thread, needles, bobbins, elastic, zippers, shears, buttons, seam rippers, seam gauge and other various sewing tools.
I will purchase fabric for the sewing notebook project. Students are expected to purchase their own fabric for the remaining projects throughout the year. Specific information will come throughout the year Additionally, I am requesting that each student purchase a blue “Mark B Gone” water soluble Fabric Marker and a seam ripper. The marker can be found at Hobby Lobby, Hancock’s Fabric or Wal-Mart.
